Carlos Torres

Carlos Torres Hello, I got no one else to ask, but i need to know the name of an arcade game of the 70´s-80's. It was a racing game with wheel and gas and brake pedals, also had a hi-low gear stick. On the screen you see the cars from above, and of course it's a 2D game, you go on a highway and sometimes you had to avoid to crash wi...th an ambulance, and also sometimes you race above an iced floor or you could pass through a tunnel and can see only what your lights can see. Also after the tunnel the road splits in two and you had to choose one of the two narrow new roads... Could you please help me find this game??I'll be more than thankful.
I've been looking for it on google and can't get it's name on any website.Thank you so much.

Josh Riffel

Josh Riffel I love your website and enjoy submitting new material from time to time. So I have a question about submitting images. As you do not give update credit for adding pics, is it acceptable to place a watermark on our submissions?

Hello Josh, my webmaster didn't programmed a way to attribute images contribution yet. If you need to put a watermark on your pictures, you can since it's your work :)

But if possible, not a big name that take the whole picture ;)

Amit Nihal

Amit Nihal Hi,
I was trying to find out about this arcade game which I used to play as a kid (around 1991-2), I will describe what I remember...

It was a war like shoot em up with an almost top down approach. It wasn't a side scrolling one rather you move in towards the screen.

The game starts with the hero ( a well built ramboes...que guy) jumping out of an airplane and parachuting down into enemy territory. There he gets attacked by enemy soldiers.
At certain points there were bunker made of sand bags where you could take cover and shoot. Also some time in the game you'd get a bazooka using which you could take out watchtowers.

At the end of the first level you had to take down the 2 enemy jeeps which basically kept circling round n round and also an enemy chopper.
Thats all I remember... any idea which game is this?

:D I had asked this question on other forums as well, a couple of titles that came up were cabal and commando for NES, unfortunately neither matched :(

Jeffrey Barron

Jeffrey Barron Questions for your expertise: I heard that MAME games are illegal, or at least one point were, just as Napster's collection of songs were illegal before they made legal agreements to charge. So, my question is, are they really illegal? Also, what is in your objective opinion is the best emulator to download to play ...the MAME games? Best site containing MAME downloads? Thanks from one of your very first FB fans!

Hello Jeff, for me : it's illegal to have a dematerialized file (ROM) if you don't own the original material (PCB). Except for public domain files.

my thing is Mame is the only way you can play all those beautiful arcade games of the 80's and 90's. I was told if the game is 10 years old then it's public domain is that true. I really wish arcades would come back i don't mind playing them on X-box 360 or my computer, but it's not the same as going into an arcade and putting in a quarter or two and playing the real thing, with joysticks and buttons. But unfortunatly my keyboard is all i have to play video games.

Brian Although the work that was done early on by myself, Gerardo, Mark, Dave, and all of the early contributors, for the database was very miniscule compared to the incredible wealth of information that it has become now, I *still* feel like a proud father looking on with pride at what it has become. Congratulations, Alexis..., for all of your hard work and turning the database into the invaluable reference that it has become :)
