Casey: it's just a nice effect, the same that real turntables have. Try it out!
Wayne: you can use the transition tool (middle button of the 5 buttons below the mixer) for an automatic crossfade or transition effects like backspin, echo, brake and reverse.

Many say: it's all about the music! So try this: Collect your very best songs in a playlist in iTunes and start mixing them together in djay. Use a simple crossfade at the right moment, or try one of djay's built-in transition effects like Backspin or Brake. Then you could start playing around with speed, EQ, effects, ... to blend songs together. Hope that helps!

You might want to look into getting a USB sound card and headphones for pre-cueing, so you can listen to tracks through the headphones before playing them through the main speakers. The Griffin iMic is a good option for a USB sound card, which you can connect to any standard headphones.
Other than that, good music in your iTunes library is a plus. ;)

You probably ordered our Backup CD, which usually ships within 5 days. You should have received an email from us with you license information for djay and instructions on how to download and install it from our website. Let us know if you need any help with this!

There is a known incompatibility with the DJIO because it doesn't support certain features djay relies on. We're working on a fix.

You could try one of the built-in Audio Unit effects from the menu (Table-1 > Audio Unit Effects). A bandpass filter could do depending in the song.

Anthon, I'm not sure I fully understand what you're trying to do. You can set the EQ in djay below the turntables. If you want to use the EQ on your mixer just leave the settings in djay at their defaults.

Wayne, put the mouse cursor over one of the turntables and if you have a notebook simply put two fingers on the trackpad and move them up and down just like on a real turntable. Or you can click with the mouse and move the cursor to scratch. Hope that helps.

Yes, it's the same thing whether you use USB headphones or a USB sound card like the iMic. You'll be able to pre-cue with either.

You can get USB heaphones e.g. at www.amazon.com. If you want to use your favorite pair of "normal" headphones I would recommend using a USB sound card like the Griffin iMic to use with your headphones: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-iMic-USB-Audio-Interface/dp/B000BVV2IC/
