beatstomper is a trash percussion project with at risk kids/young offenders in ulm.germany. none of them has any previous experience in percussion. they are age 11 to 17. we had regular rehearsals since april 09, and are busy performing all month of july. the project helps them discover their potential, regain confid...ence, bonding, building community, learning to concentrate. public performances provide recognition, contact/exchange with other social environments/stratas and opportunities to participate in cultural activities. video by sheela raj. performance dates: 04/07 ulm fleemarket 12/07 ulm st.george's church 18/07 ermingen harley club 20/07 ulm friedrichsau historical festival 25/07 ulm ulmafrik festival 26/07 ulm ssv tennis club 29/07 ulm school is out 19/09 ulm muensterplatz, kulturnacht

we created this video recently for a multimedia dance installation, in collaboration with strado compagnia danza, at the stadthaus ulm (architect: richard meier). the video uses basic geometric strutures, white lines ...on a black background, inspired by the minimalist design ideas of bauhaus, and the ulm school of design (50s to early 70s).
