We Aspire to be a HEALTH-PROMOTING SCHOOL:
Definition:
Promoting health through schools enhances both health and the capacity of pupils to learn. WHO's Global School Health Initiative aims to mobilise and strengthen health promotion and education activities at all levels by increasing the number of health-promoting schoo...ls. Health-Promoting Schools constantly strengthen their capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working. They strive to provide a healthy environment, health education, school health services, along with school/community projects, nutrition, opportunities for physical education and recreation, programmes for social support, counselling and mental health promotion. Through the integration of our health project i.HUG aims to establish our school, Kabalagala Community Academy, as a health-promoting school and thus enable the children we serve to reach their full potential academically, socially, physically and emotionally.
And we take this idea and extend it to the parents, who must also be healthy if the children in our program will thrive.

Last Tuesday, I went to a fundraising event for i.HUG that was held at the National Arts Club in the Gramercy area of NYC. Good food and drinks, sweet silent auction prizes, beautiful venue along with a large turnout for this great cause helped make this well organized fundraiser a success! ...
