judy horacek is trying to work out what the subtle differences are between the phrases 'Leave well enough alone' and 'You don't know what you've got till it's gone'... while cursing the fact that they both apply so well to working in watercolours (especially when you're on deadline for a picture book)

judy horacek Happy November (for Sunday) everyone. November's Topic of the Month on my website is 'zzzz', the cartoon sign for sleep. Something nearly all of us need more of. (I can't believe I'm at the end of the alphabet again, the letters seem to whizz by very quickly!)

judy horacek As a spinoff from the work in 'Everyday Fairytales', I've made 4 artist's books using the same imagery. The series is called 'Fairytales (Colours)' and consists of Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. They're on display at Helen Maxwell Gallery until Saturday November 14.

Fiona everyone will want one!

judy horacek My horoscope on the airport bus this morning said 'This month stress and frustration become almost a religious experience'. Guess I should be offering it all up to some higher power then (or perhaps I am already).

judy horacek Last chance! My exhibition Everyday Fairytales finishes this Saturday, 17 October at 5pm. Next chance! I have 4 artist's books in a series Fairytales (Colours) continuing with the same imagery, and they will be part of the next exhibition at Helen Maxwell Gallery in Canberra, 23 October - 14 November. Both these pr...ojects have been supported by the ACT Government through an ArtsACT Creative Fellowship. Thanks!

Catherine Stephenson I am trying to track down a cartoon called (I think) 'Graveyard of Women' but I am having trouble finding it. It is probably my favourite Horacek cartoon and had a huge imapct on me wneh I first saw it. Can anyone help?

Clare Andrews I have loved Judy's work for many years now, since first spying her "unreqited love" postcards in the Monash Uni Co-Op bookshop in the early 90's

The new topic of the month is up on my website - this month it's 'Yearning'. http://horacek.com.au/topic-of-the-month /tooct09/

This month’s topic is Yearning. Maybe it’s because spring is in the air in the southern hemisphere (every few days or so, interspersed with more winter). Maybe it’s because it’s the human condition. ...

judy horacek My exhibition 'Everyday Fairytales' is now up and running at Helen Maxwell Gallery in Canberra. It's an exhibition of screenprints about Prague and Melbourne and home and foreignness, and it looks good. Lots of people have already been to see it and I've sold quite a few. It's so good to be at this point!

judy horacek
has a new topic of the month on her website. It's X-hibitions (we're up to X) to celebrate her exhibition.

This month’s topic is Xhibitions (it’s not an X-rated topic – the ‘x’ is in caps because that’s because that’s the letter we’re up to, even though as we all know ‘exhibitions’ actually begins with an ‘e’. ...

judy horacek just took all the work for the exhibition to the framers). Phew and yay!

Desiree Heather Hi Judy, I'm another fan and I'll definitely check out your exhibition at Helen Maxwell Gallery.
