mlk2009 A half-day event for 500 middle-school students. The public can join the children in reenacting King's march on Washington and hear a rendition of King's "I Have a Dream" speech by Charles St. Clair, on Fletcher Library lawn at 9:30 a.m. Students will hear presentations on a civil rights theme in La Sala ballroom at 11 a.m.

1. Help make Garfield Neighborhood a better place to live!... We need volunteers to cover the streets of this neighborhood and rid them of litter and debris. Along with other MLK projects in Garfield, we will make a HUGE difference in this downtown neighborhood's appearance and livability!
2. Volunteers are needed to spread the word about city services to Garfield Neighborhood residents! We will disseminate educational materials regarding tax preparation, home ownership and more by dropping off flyers and informational pamphlets at all homes in the area. This will help residents get access to useful city services and help the city better serve the community!
