        FORESTS
        FORESTS is the new project from Lawrence Becko, songwriter and frontman of much loved UK band Shady Bard. His music has featured on award winning shows The Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy and Without A Trace, and soundtracked a global MTV campaign, reaching millions worldwide and building an international fanbase. The ...new musical collective comprises collaborators from his other bands and new friends, and promises big melodies and lush orchestrations. Over the last 7 years, Lawrence’s bands have released a multitude of albums and EPs, toured the UK, secured PRS Awards, founded their own record label, Forest Industries, and secured bags of BBC airplay. Lawrence’s first band, Shady Bard, built a huge cult following through releases with cult label Static Caravan. Their debut album ‘From The Ground Up’ (2007) was hailed as “wonderful” (Word), “beguiling” (Uncut) and “a marvel” (Channel 4). The Sunday Times called them “a band it would be easy to fall in love with”, whilst BBC Radio’s Steve Lamacq proclaimed it “a very engaging record”. The follow up, ‘Trials’ (Forest Industries, 2010), continued the success, with Artrocker calling them “just gorgeous” and Drowned in Sound hailing them as “one of the most singular bands of their generation”. But with FORESTS, it’s now time to try something new. “After 7 years of Shady Bard, I wanted a chance to try something different,” Lawrence explains. “I guess there’s an expectation of what Shady Bard should sound like, whereas with Forests anything goes.” He continues: “It gives you a new freedom. I started with a blank canvas so the new songs are going in lots of different directions. I’ve been listening to all sorts of music recently which will end up having an influence on the sound from Vangelis soundtracks to old favourites like Broken Social Scene and The Flaming Lips.” FORESTS is already shaping up into an exciting new project, which is sure to win over existing fans and brand new audiences. The new music will be debuted on tour this spring with dates in the UK and Sweden.See More

            You guys are my current addiction and I doubt it'll be going away soon. I had to walk somewhere alone today and the entire time I was thinking "I'm going to play Shady Bard and it's going to be amazing." That walk was the most relaxing walk I've ever had. Sounds cheesy as heck, but that's the way it was. ^_^
