Mission:
the dotmatrix project puts on a monthly concert in downtown Greensboro to bring together musicians, filmmakers and photographers looking to collaborate, perform and cross-promote one another's community.

we're looking to hear from up and coming bands, musicians, spoken word artists, etc. who want crafted media of their performances and are willing to exchange a free show to collaborate with talented filmmakers & photographers.

on the flip side, we're looking for photographers and filmmakers who dig live performances, can capture the vibe and energy of a live event and *want* to collaborate with musicians to define the vision of their output.

all participants will be promoted in numerous spots, both on-line and off, including a quarterly photo exhibit for photographers, a video showing between sets of upcoming shows for filmmakers and a live recording for musicians to upload to Last.fm (and do with what they like).

Hi dotmatrix. I'm a local photgrapher looking for a chance to expand my photographic horizons. I'd love to get involved with shooting local bands at local events. If you need another photographer please drop me a line.

Referring to my last post...I would like to talk to your group about possibly working together about the filming portion (and anything else that we can do to help get this off the ground) and donate all money to an organization that is really helping with this cause. The areas that are impacted the most by this crises are African and Middle Eastern countries. I am especially interested in the crises going on in Egypt. Is this something that we can consider? Give me a shout...g.crest@yahoo.com, I am in Greensboro, NC as well.

Hello Dot Matrix. I started a company last year called Global Crest Music, LLC (www.glocrest.com). The focus of GCM is to promote, celebrate, and spread the word about "world music" or music primarily being made and come from other parts of the world. My first event is in August, Destination Greensboro: A Music Oasis, as an affiliated event with the GSO Bicentennial.

I understand that Dot Matrix would like the following:

we're looking to hear from up and coming bands, musicians, spoken word artists, etc. who want crafted media of their performances and are willing to exchange a free show to collaborate with talented filmmakers & photographers.

For the shows we do, we normally charge our patrons, but I would like to organize a strong charity concert and have it filmed to raise money for the food crises that is going on throughout the world and have it filmed. In the U.S., we are suffering a great deal from the rising cost of food (especially grain).
