“I like to call it my mid-life catharsis,” tracyshaun says of his musical awakening. “Truth is, I have the rest of my life ...in front of me and my soul is on fire.” Sometimes, it’s just one moment in a person’s life that wakes them up to the possibilities. For tracyshaun, his musical life begins at year 0 and a desire to awaken himself to his creative truth and to spark life into those that come to listen.
tracyshaun is a soulful singer-songwriter from northern California with deep Texas roots. His unique voice and distinctive finger-picking reinvents the folk and alt-country traditions with songs about love and transformation.
tracyshaun writes poignant and richly melodic songs about love and creative independence. His strong voice retells stories of love, heartbreak and everyone’s journey to be more than themselves.
His influences ranging from townes van zandt to connor oberst and from leo kottke to iron & wine. He counts Walt Whitman, Gertrude Stein, Jack Kerouac, Bob Dylan and Steve Earle as forebears to his lyric style. tracyshaun reinvents himself with every performance and takes you with him through his songs of self.
tracyshaun studied poetry & Buddhism at Naropa University and is a veteran of internet start-ups since ‘98. Out of much writing and early performance art, he has reignited and reinvented himself and his music in 2008. Having played guitar since a teenager, he has finally come into his own as a singer and songwriter this year. He is hard at work creating an EP of his music. He currently plays in and around the Marin county and San Francisco bay areas.
