The story: I was in my office late one night not wanting to be bothered.
Phone rang. I wanted to ignore it, but I felt compelled to answer.
A child blurted, "Why do you do what you do?" (without saying hello)
The question has haunted me (in a good way) and sparked this community-art project. Now, thousands of people have answered it around the world. (more about the history)
What's your answer?

HOW TO START YOUR OWN WDYDWYD CHAPTER

By Adine Schoonmaker | Artist/Photographer | Brooklyn, NY
I spent most of my 20's suffering from undiagnosed Thyroid cancer and my early 30's in treatment and recovery. I began to feel as though i was normal and pretty by my late 30's. I am now experiencing all the excitement and passion that i should have been enjoying in my youth. But now that i am "blooming" i am also noticeably aging. I do what i do because i still want to feel alive when men stop noticing me.

sometimes i wonder if, ultimately, i have any say in the way my life moves and how i respond.

Joe Moloughney started the first WDYDWYD CHAPTER as a
FB Group & asked 130 friends
why they do what they do.
He wrote: I was flying back to school. I'm sitting at the gate in Newark when I felt the sudden urge to use the restroom. In the bathroom, on the wall, was a tiny sticker that read: "wdydwyd?" Those of you who know me well, know that I'm a pretty deep thinker, and I interpreted this question as quite the philosophical dilemma. Is it possible to come up with one answer to justify every action of your life? I would probably hope not. Why am I typing this? Why are you reading this? Why do we follow the trends when we tell ourselves to stand out?
Why? Why? Why?
