The Painting Experience
This is the latest note in our series exploring the basic principles of process painting. If you do not listen to your intuition, it will stop talking to you! We often erect a red light or a “wrong way” sign in front of spontaneous images as they arise. It...

It is REALLY challenging to always come from this place! I would like to be able to allow my inner voice to take over my inner critic.

Thanks for your enthusiasm, Katie! You can find listings for upcoming workshops on our website: http://www.processarts.com/pages/programs/programs.html. We offer workshops across the U.S. and, occasionally, in Europe. Right now, we don't have anything scheduled in Minnesota, but pretty soon we'll have information available for people who want to bring The Painting Experience to a new location. Stay in touch!

The Painting Experience

The Painting Experience Annie Rousseau shares photos and reports from Vancouver Island: We had a fabulous workshop here at Ocean Resort. We enjoyed delicious, healthy meals, beautiful spaces for our painting studio, our group time, and video watching -- all with ocean views. We had time for walks on the beach, saunas, and bodywork. We were held by the sea, the sky, and the process in a setting of stillness and nourishment.

The Painting Experience

The Painting Experience just wrapped up a fine weekend in Hoboken. The Monroe Center was the perfect place to paint -- quiet, private, lots of light. The group embraced a theme of "not knowing."

I love this. I was in my studio for 2 1/2 hours, not especially comfortable with the results, but still challenging myself to move beyond what I "like." Reading this right now it is evident that I was discovering something about myself in the process. Thanks for publishing this.

Sharon Suess When my grandchildren were very young (one-year old) I had them painting with tempera paints, and I decided to let them teach me. Then a friend recommended your book "Life, Paint and Passion" and I fell in love with your ideas. My goal is to take your painting experience workshop some time soon. Sharon

Hi Stewart, another brush with serendipity - or spirit play if you prefer. I was approached yesterday by a lovely woman who has recently moved here, and whose daughter did creative painting down in Devon with a woman who was taught/inspired by Michelle Cassou! She wants me to help her daughter "continue exploring her ...creativity through painting"... back in 2005 we mentioned the possibility of maybe someday me offering something like this in Scotland. Let me know what you think. Loads of love, DerbyRead More

This is the latest note in our series exploring the basic principles of process painting. You are finished when the painting is finished inside you. Try to keep going after you believe that you are finished. What comes then may be the most important time in your painting...

What about if you feel like you're never done? I get these feelings with a lot of my paintings and usually there's this one painting that I will hold on to even years and be constantly changing something cause it's never finished.
