A lot of hype about how it will revolutionize education is just that- a lot of hype. There's a HUGE gap between the rhetoric and the reality of using technology to support learning. I just don't see it in the schools I am in. Until system changes to rethink how learning is "measured", teachers see technology as add on. Only use of computers in school I was in this week is CAI--little bitty kids held prisoner by electronic worksheets. Ugggggh!

I am loving WORDLE and finding many neat uses for it. Did a web evaluation lesson today, and we wordled our way through it! Maybe I'll post to slideshare. Must be careful though--because created at school, its property of school, no?

The 2009 conference theme takes participants to different heights in educational technology professional development. With over 100 concurrent workshops and presentations and over 200 exhibit booths, there should be a lot to take in and do.
