Palo Alto Medical Foundation Have a "Greener" Holiday Season: You don’t have to be a "green" Grinch to have a more environmentally friendly holiday season this year. Here are 10 simple tips to get started.

www.pamf.org
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American produces about 4.4 pounds of garbage a day, or a total of 29 pounds per week. Reducing and reusing is therefore one of the key things we all can do to improve the health of our environment. ...

To Jen: The point is, why are we being reminded to have a "Greener" Holiday Season? I don't celebrate "Greener" or "Holiday"; I celebrate "CHRISTMAS" and I Don't want someone’s condescending environmental ideology dictating how I celebrate it. The EPA has no business in this area. As for the tree, I cut my own. Have a Merry Christmas!

It's just a tip for those who are interested. You don't have to take every piece of information on the internet or this site personally, I say.

I think living green is very much related to health, in the long run and I do appreciate tips like these, even if I may not implement all of them right away.

Surprised that PAMF doesn't have the clout to get the vaccines they need for their patients. My sisters kids are the same ages as our kids (5 and under), low-risk, and received their H1N1 shots through Solano County Kaiser. My friend who is a nurse in a private pediatrics clinic in Seattle said it was made available this week to all their juvenile patients. The H1N1 distribution seems somewhat... arbitrary.

Can you let me know why Alameda County and Santa Clara Counties do not have the same restrictions as PAMF? From the Alameda County web site their most recent letter about H1N1 was that they delivered the latest shipment to local clinics so that they could vac. their patients. I had been waiting to go through my health provider (PAMF) but since you cannot deliver, I will go get my kids vaccinated at the FREE clinic through the County.

I teach high school and my students thought I was crazy for taking a call in the middle of class to get my high risk 2-year old (asthma) her H1N1. They got theirs "months ago." I also had another friend who was able to get her two children vaccinated last week -- and they are NOT high risk. What gives with PAMF? I am very frustrated. It is December!
