When our patients are ill and have no access to care, our team of health professionals, scholars, and activists will do whatever it takes to make them well — just as we would do if a member of our own families—or we ourselves—were ill.

Scott Brown I head up an outdoor school of leadership called 212 Degrees. We do work in the village of Bois De Lance near Cap Haitian. We will be coordinating work with a medical clinic there and all of our teams will be reading Mountains Beyond Mountains prior to our courses.

Partners In Health Are you reading Mountains Beyond Mountains for your school or your incoming class this fall? Let us know! Please tell us the name of your school and if any events are scheduled to go along with these initiatives.

Thank you for this input! We're still looking to collect as much info as possible - if you hear of any other schools using Mountains Beyond Mountains, please let us know.

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology used Mountains Beyond Mountains as their Book of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year. Most classes used the book as required reading :)

As a pre-med student I was always asked what I wanted to study and where I'm going with my career. Mountains Beyond Mountains changed my ideas, thoughts and hope of the future. Paul Farmer and PIH has inspired a new view on global health in not only me, but my friends and family I can get to read MBM and Dr. Farmer's other books.
Thank you.

Julie Such an incredible, phenomenal organization! Thank you all for the amazing work you do, you are truly an inspiration to so many of us!

Sonya Hubbard Partners in Health is one of my very favorite organizations. I ask everyone out there to: 1) Send a generous check to PIH; and 2) Recommend Mountains Beyond Mountains to everyone you know. (They'll thank you later... after they write their own check to PIH!)

Jackie Russell hi! I am in Phi Theta Kappa and I am Vice President of Student Services and I would like to start a campaign in order to raise awareness at my college so that we can raise money. How can I join up? Also, is there a way in that I could receive a DVD that I may show in the college to get the students attention? I am really compelled from the documentary "I am Because We Are" and I really would like to help. If Someone could e-mail me at JLRUSSELL@ccri.edu or jackster5182@aol.com I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Thanks, Jackie! PIH will be in touch regarding some materials to help you raise awareness on campus.

Many of the gorgeous images in this video are among those in the photo exhibit PIH created to commemorate its 20th anniversary. I urge you to bring the exhibit to your community. I did it in mine. The exhibit hung for a month in the Bozeman Public Library. We organized a community-wide read, One Book-One Bozeman, around Mountains Beyond Mountains in conjunction with the exhibit. A great way to raise awareness - and a beautiful thing to bring your community together. go for it!!

I am a Community Health Worker in rural East Texas/Southwest Arkansas and learned today that one of the hospitals in our community has decided not to accept indigent patients. This video reminded me that there are other people in the fight for the right to health care - thanks.
