Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton swore in 63 new Peace Corps/Philippines volunteers at the U.S. Embassy in Manila today. Secretary Clinton addressed the new volunteers and was joined by Ambassador Kristie Kenney and Peace Corps/Philippines Country Director Sonia Derenoncourt.

Two documentaries by Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will be screened this Saturday as part of the fourth annual Third Goal International Film Festival in Columbia, Missouri. The festival will include a total of four films with discussion panels and is intended to connect viewers with the Peace Corps experience.
Tappan... Heher's (RPCV, Mali) film "Gone to Mali" follows his quest to find his Malian mom, a woman who welcomed Heher into her family during his volunteer service, after the death of his own mother. Jill Vickers's (RPCV, Afghanistan) film "Once in Afghanistan" chronicles volunteers working in Afghan villages to promote a smallpox vaccination program.

Peace Corps Throughout November, Peace Corps is celebrating National Native American Heritage Month. Julious Hagans, a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Cote d'Ivoire, is a member of the North Carolina Lumbee Tribe and shares his thoughts: "As a Native American Volunteer, I was able to share my culture to help many hos...t country nationals understand that all Americans are not what they see on imported American television shows and that we come in many shades. At the same time, I feel that, by serving, I was able to help my American counterparts to see Native Americans in a different light."
