Penn LPS Commons Penn’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies offers the online, non-credit course: 'Foundations of Positive Psychology.' This new field focuses on positive emotions and communication, strengths-based character, and healthy institutions. Video lectures and social networking are part of this 12-week course starting September 14.

Tal Ben-Shahar taught one of the most popular courses at Harvard University. The subject? Happiness! Now he brings his “positive psychology” wisdom and humor to a new special that can help people be happier and more creative and stay healthier.

Researchers and practitioners have found that individuals utilizing its principles can enhance work and home life by:
*Accessing strengths that act as buffers against unfavorable circumstances.
*Balancing immediate personal needs with long-term goals.
*Developing a more resilient psychological immune system based on optimism and self esteem.
Each of the course’s 12 weekly units will consist of 3–4 hours of video lectures that you can view at any time. The video content will be supplemented by short weekly assignments designed to encourage reflection and introspection, as well as guided discussion forums and expert Q&A Session to help you deepen your understanding of key concepts.
