Still waiting, waiting, waiting... for that cranial modem we all know is coming!!!

Can't wait till we can tap the optic nerve for a signal!

If we surround an optic nerve with nano resonating amps, it could happen in our lifetime.. Yahoo for REAL first person entertainment! Strap on the virtual electrodes and live the experience of the speed rock climber- the stunt person, the astronaut! Damn I wish I was born 100 years from now!

Education that includes at least some online work is more effective than classroom-only teaching, according to a major research review done for the Department of Education.

Having taught online and face-to-face concurrently for many years, I am not surprised. I would like to see whether the researchers accounted for the differences in populations--online students tend to be stronger students in general (many studies have confirmed this) as one must be more disciplined to be successful in that environment--also, online students tend to be older, with jobs and families.

Penn LPS Commons Renowned positive psychology scholar Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar will lead you in this new, non-credit exploration of the history and scientific underpinnings of one of psychology’s most fascinating branches, as well as its potential applications in your daily life.

Rooted in the work of Dr. Martin Seligman, founder of and lead...ing international scholar on positive psychology and Fox Leadership Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, this new area of psychology focuses on positive emotions, strengths-based character, and positive communication. Researchers and practitioners have found that individuals utilizing its principles can enhance work and home life by:

*Accessing strengths that act as buffers against unfavorable circumstances.
*Balancing immediate personal needs with long-term goals.
*Developing a more resilient psychological immune system based on optimism and self esteem.

Each of the course’s 12 weekly units will consist of 3–4 hours of video lectures that you can view at any time. The video content will be supplemented by short weekly assignments designed to encourage reflection and introspection, as well as guided discussion forums and expert Q&A Session to help you deepen your understanding of key concepts.

You will also have the opportunity to network with your fellow students through weekly blogs and discussion forums moderated by the course instructor and facilitator.
