The people do not serve their governments, their governments serve them. Although to look at the UK you might think otherwise, entering illegal wars, confirming treaties without a referendum, handing over power to a man that has not been democratically elected, using taxes to pay for motes in their castles/mansions and... letting the IMF and banking system lend itself into oblivion.
