the 'art crap' they published (which was little to begin with) was what made the magazine good and different than other magazines from that region.
I didnt read it often, but i liked that they incorporated different visual languages than ju...st graphic design, sad to see them leave, they're much better than most graphic design magazines out there.
If it failed due to lack of commercial interest, than people have no taste for good design anymore. which is probably true.

      • Tim Farrell People love design more than ever, It's just like everything else media/arts related, people don't wanna pay for it, even designers.

        The internet wins again.

Online media is an undeniable force. The iPhone, the iPad... The ability to get information, and now more specifically magazines and newspapers, on the go with minimal effort and maximum interactivity has been hitting the print industry cer...tainly where magazines and newspapers are concerned. The American newspaper industry is in crisis and their hope is that by integrating their newspapers in an application format they will manage to survive in a new way. I doubt it spells the end if the printed magazine but it does spell tough times ahead for the more 'fringe' or specialist journals like Grafik. It may be a case if those that stay behind get left behind.

As an iPad/iPhone user I would have loved a grafik app... Shame.

      • Luke Godson graphik went down the pan a long time ago! people got sick of looking at pictures of artsy bullcrap for the sake of it and people holding posters over their faces, people want good editorials on graphic design! not, "oooh graphik has a new typeface and is using a 6 column grid this month" - who cares really, like really were all a bunch of rip off merchants if we are honest! good bye...

To be fair... i'm in agreement with Luke. And it's for that reason I didn't renew my subscription. I bought into Grafik to see good graphic design and editorials that provided insight into graphic design and design studios. When they broade...ned it to encompass more Art and Design... it became something I was less interested in. Their bid to reach a more general audience pushed them further to the fringes because they alienated their designer following.

And luke... why don't you rip off something good then ;)
