We were sad, but not shocked, to read the story about Larry Lamb developing hearing loss as a result of contracting malaria on a visit to Senegal. Malaria is one of the main causes of deafness in Africa and the wider developing world and one of the simplest and most effective things we can do to prevent deafness is the issuing of mosquito nets.
