I think it's a great idea! Has this ever been done before in other communities?

What a great idea! Thank you Guardian Angels. We’re grateful for community activism that goes beyond the collecting of signatures.

In a time where our police force is stretched way too thin it is a great thing! I hope it works!

@Hilary - Yes, this has been done before in some big cities. I think it has even been done in the Twin Cities. It has been increasing in popularity recently.

Marty - You got that right!!
Meetings and petitions make people feel warm and fuzzy, but these citizens are actually taking a tangible action. With city council and law enforcement support, they CAN and WILL make a difference in our city's safety!

We have the 3rd largest populated city in this state, yet, the numbers in our police force do not even match up to Winona MN.
and many other city's smaller.
But when budget cuts come to the city, who is the first to be cut?
police, fire.
Yes the Angels would be a good fit to rochester, mn. as they were back in the early 1980's when the gangs were all coming to rochester, in large forces from Mnpls, Chicago, and Waterloo IA. at that time.... See More
now we have places like Milwaukee and madison WI and St. paul and Red Wing among others like Austin MN. too
We need to ask the state to give us 10 more police officers and budget for it, and the state patrol and County need to be upped here in Rochester area by at least 6 each. So Mr. Pawlenty, while your touring the united states, you may want to spend SOME time in MN. to help find a way to solve MN state problems, if you can figure it into your tough presidental schedule.

Call the Salvation Army of Rochester, MN. ask to speak to Jeff Urbin and help kevin meet his kettle challnge goals.
Last year i stood out in 11degree weathert that ended at 3 degrees at walmart South for 8 hours and 40 minutes without any breaks, raised just under 1,000 in the 4 kettles i fillled, i also had Channel 1 food barrels put out and the 2 businesses that helped to match my kettle money raised, put us just under $2,000.00 raised for that night in my challenge. i hope to double it this year with the help of more businesses.
