The Phoenix Center at Auraria
Join the team at the Phoenix Center at Auraria and provide critical services to survivors of interpersonal violence and their friends and families. The 24/7 helpline provides free and confidential support to anyone connected to the Auraria campus.
Accepted volunteers will train for 40 hours on topics of domestic violen...ce, stalking and sexual assault. Volunteers will learn basic counseling skills, how the criminal justice system works, what happens if survivors choose to go to the hospital or the police and much more. At the conclusion of the training, volunteers will be equipped to provide information, options and resources to individuals who call the helpline.
Volunteers MUST attend all training dates to be eligible for the program. Please complete an application and return to the Phoenix Center at Auraria by January 25, 2010. Please email Aneesha.Bharwani@ucdenver.edu for more information and for an application. This volunteer opportunity can be done as an internship.
