Employment Opportunity...Mustang is Looking for a Seat Designer!
Do you know anyone who is interested in working in the exciting field of Seat Design? This new position reports to and works directly under our Vice President of Product and Process. The VP has final say in all design, material and tooling decisions....
Mustang is expanding its line of Custom Motorcycle Seats into new areas and seeks a capable and experienced designer to join our in-house development team. This designer will build prototype seats for new applications and in new styles that will be tooled, patterned and molded by our development team and then go into production. After an appropriate orientation period, this designer shall be able to engineer new seats for comfort using established Mustang guidelines. This means developing new baseplates superior to original equipment versions, shaping seat foams for maximum support, and styling covers for the best custom appearance with ease of production in mind. This individual must be able to think in a creative, innovative and bold way to differentiate Mustang from its competition. He will need to visit motorcycle shows and local dealerships to gain knowledge, borrow motorcycles, check production designs and assist in sales. He must be able build fiberglass prototype baseplates and fabricate metal mounting hardware. This would necessitate the ability to work with body fillers, chop fiberglass, and cut, machine and weld steel. He needs to exactly shape foam using knives and sanders. He will cut and sew original seat covers with innovative stitch patterns and implement unique trim materials that may not be currently used by the company. The Designer will work with our team of junior designers and mold makers to create the tooling required to make the new seats efficiently, and with production departments to ensure a smooth transition from prototype seats to full production.
Applicant must have seating design, fabrication and cover pattern making experience, preferably in the motorsports industry. Further experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable. He must be a highly creative individual with a strong desire to make new and contemporary motorcycle seat designs. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, detail oriented team player. Supervisory experience preferable. Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers at all levels and in all departments. He also will need to be able to work with dealers and customers on an occasional basis. Interested in joining our dynamic team? E-mail your resume to email@example.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
