BioPick and Bio Grid: BioRobotics, a Cambridge-based genetics research instrumentation specialist, had been using standard off-the-shelf parts to build its DNA pick-and- place robot on a low-volume basis. They used industrial design to drastically reduce parts and assembly time resulting in cost savings. They also had a machine that looked a lot better too! The machine was used in the human genome project at the Sanger Institute, Hinxton, south of Cambridge. Cambridge Design 1999 |
