Fresh Photo from outside our offices in Brussels. Suddenly our € 0.21per km tax deduction is not looking so attractive...

    • Sebi Cicleta I will have to get back home on my bike, and I wonder which would be most suitable: thick snow or wet and frozen streets?

It's -15 degrees celsius in Helsinki today and 20 centimeters of fresh snow on the ground. Hundreds of car accidents have blocked all highways, trams stand in queues and trains operate irregularly.

The only form of traffic that works is bi...cycle. It's a bit slower, and you need proper cloths, but that's all. My workmate is cycling 40 kilometers to home at the moment, because that way he can get there.

That's what I have to say about cycling in the snow.

    • European Cyclists' Federation Anybody have any experiences with baby bicycle seats and snowy weather. Good Idea? Bad idea?
    • Sebi Cicleta I think riding on snow is more dangerous in a general manner, so I would not recommend baby bicycle seats, acrobacies, thin wheels, riding without hands etc... Is that a good advice?
    • Krzysztof Cibor ‎-18 C today morning in Warsaw, PL. My daughter (4.5 years old) on my top tube - riding with me to the preschool. It was her decision...
    • Vik Besaraba I ride to work every day. This week is about -22C - -26C. Bicycle road is clean, and riding condition like in the summer.
Only don't use mutch oil in winter time :)
    • Esben Falck Hansen Ride everyday with a child(seat) in Barendrecht, Holland, take care cornering, watch for packed snow or ice, never fell once in 10 years with kids. Hopefully the roads where you live will be salted (Our here are usually pretty good)
    • Olav Torvund Cycling in winter condition is no problem as long as you are prepared for it. Bike with winter tyres and good clothing -- and the bicycyle is still the best means for transport.
    • Buddy Chris Love cycling in the snow....that reminds me, probably got 24hrs to get the fat tyres on! I just hate cycling in salty slush once it starts to thaw :(
    • Lina Makauskaite We have minus 20C, and cycling is the best way to not get frozen, engines dont start properly, public transport delays, so bike is the best way to be on time ant it is for free.
    • Treadlie Used to love riding in the snow in Amsterdam. The cars vanished and it was lovely and quiet!
