Calling all Heritage Humane Society Trail Trekkers!
It’s time to break out your t-shirts and wash your dog’s bandana. This Saturday is the third leg of Tails on the Trail at the Warhill Sports Complex. Please note – to access the trail head please turn onto Opportunity Way off of Centerville Rd (directly across from the Outlet Mall). Follow Opportunity Way and pass the new Thomas Nelson build...ing and Warhill High School. There you will find easy trail access from the stadium parking and you can’t miss the HHS tent on the right hand side. Additionally, we will be setting up an hour earlier than scheduled to beat the heat.
This installment will feature a gravel multi-use trail and covers a distance of 3.5 miles. This means you should come prepared. Over 95% of the trail area is shaded but it is lengthy and wooded so bring bottled water, bug spray and appropriate footwear for hiking. I walked this gorgeous trail earlier today and it is teeming with wildlife. Deer darted across the path in front of me as well as rabbits, squirrels and I came face to face with one of the largest woodpeckers I have ever seen. Your dogs will love it! Bring a camera for some beautiful opportunities to photograph the wildlife. Depending on your walking pace, allow at least an hour to complete the trail.
We will be set up from 8:00am-11:00am to stamp your PAWS-ports and don’t forget to bring a new friend along to register. We will have shirts, bandanas and Paws-ports available for all new participants as well as other Heritage Gear available for purchase.
We would love to see photos of you and your canine companions enjoying the trails this summer so please feel free to post them.
See you all on the trail this weekend!
