For all of you who have tried to claim that your parents belong in a museum: My Dad really IS in one!
He was one of the original engineers and later director for the 6 and 11 PM news blocks for WRAL-TV. He started working there before they even went on the air.
Raleigh City Museum currently has an exhibit about the history of media in the area and they have this copy of the slide that was used when Dad was the director on display. The slide was used at the closing of the news blocks -- They used director's slides at the very end of all live programs.
This picture was taken of him by his museum exhibit the day after my birthday, August 22, 2009. According to Dad: "The writeup below the picture said it was circa 1959. The slide was actually made in 1959 and used until I left in June 1960."
