Back in da 'Paign! In Baltimore, a sea change occured! The battle may yet be long, but the International Building Codes are solidly behind the fire sprinkler concept for saving lives. The Residential Codes are set to require every new home built to the modern codes to have Fire Sprinklers in them! As far as historical moments go... this was HUGE! Photo Credit to Dan Gengler, NFSA

    • Cecil Bilbo The picture shows the vote in favor of fire sprinklers in new homes. The count was something like 1500 to 8.

    • Dominick G Kasmauskas Oh my, it was impossible to keep track where everyone was. Plus as RMs we had to keep in contact with our members.

John, It was another great win. Still, don't be lulled into thinking that we can back off of this effort. From here, we will need to address it in every State and in every Community. It is there that the National Association of Home Build...ers intends to convince local politicians to overturn the work of the International Code Council. The NAHB local clout should make us concerned for those that are best served by these changes. Namely: the poor, the elderly and the very young. These are they that suffer most from the devastating effects of fire.See More

    • Darcie Boehmer Borden The update from NJ -- we are nearing the end of the public comment period on this bill Nov. 7, and so far we have not seen any overt opposition from home builders here.

    • John Hulett Just thinking about it makes me smile. The smile of victory. We need to continue to educate the AHJ's and the public as to the benefits.
