Becky Palermo and Beth Fahey, the sister team running Hyperlink to Creative Cakes at 16649 Oak Park Ave. in Tinley Park, make everything from blue and white Tiffany jewelry boxes to Prada purses and designer shoes — as cakes.
“What we do is try to understand what the event is, what the client’s budget is, and give them something that is a centerpiece at their event,” Palermo said.
While Palermo and Fahey have been awarded for their ornate designs, taste is of the utmost importance to them. The sisters use a light Italian-style meringue buttercream recipe and an intense chocolate ganache to ice their cakes.
They also mix their folio of delectables with cream puffs swans, éclairs and fresh fruit tarts to tempt the most discerning palates.
