AVG, a security software company has compiled data from over 127 million computers in 144 countries to determine the incidence rates of virus attacks by country.


Internet users in Turkey, Russia, the Caucasus and South-east Asia for example show disproportionately higher rates of being attacked than the global average of 1 in 73.

the average chances of a Web surfer in 144 countries being hit by a web attack. The results? Turkey (1 in 10 chance) is relatively ‘risky’ with Japan (1 in 404 chance of facing an attack) being classed as very safe.
