{Query of the day} - With a growing trend in the scenario of Marketing via Social Media today, What is the difference between Social Media Optimization (SMO) and Social Media Marketing(SMM)?

SMO is part of SMM just like how SEO is part of SEM. The objective of SMO is attract visitors to your website (Eg: RSS feeds, Social Bookmarking, Social Voting, Social Sharing Widgets etc.,) whilst SMM is all things that help promoting your... company's service/product to intended audience to targeted visitors, provide customer support, research and engage with potential leads etc. Hope this makes sense or may be you have a better answer to this? Thanks for the response Vinay. This definitely is the answer. SMO is majorly a process to bring credible traffic to your site via Social Media where the 'engagement' is not the major component. The intent behind SMO is to obtain unique visi......tors to the website content. SMO is ethically highly successful for the blogs and magazines that shares unique and credible content with audience.

Whereas, Social Media Marketing (SMM) is the process that works well if the objective is set right. It is more of creative process that succeeds when you define your People, set Objective, customize your Strategy, use the right Tactics/ Technology, build and focus on Interactive Actions that helps you create a Network of well wishers.
