I agree with the above suggestions of rose. The first thing I thought of when I read that you were looking to do a new body oil scent was, "She *has* to do something with rose!" If you make it a simple enough rose, like the Rose + Sandalw...ood that Chryl-Lynn suggested, it can function as a beautiful, non-interfering base over which users can then layer their favorite rose perfumes.

My only other suggestion might be something with vanilla, since vanilla is a very popular scent. Maybe a honeysuckle + vanilla? Your honeysuckle essence is quite nice.

I especially like experiments in which "food" notes are not treated as foodies or gourmands. How would you treat the chocolate scent, for example, if you didn't know it was a food? ie., using that chocolate note just like an...y other scenting note in perfumery, regardless of its food associations.
This is why I like Patou COLONY (1938): pineapple used (unexpectedly) in an elegant French chypre, not a gourmand or "beachy" or "tropical" mixture.

    • Cheryl-Lynn May Rose and sandalwood is heady and magical without being overwhelming. It's such a comforting, beautiful, warm combination and in an oil - simply exquisite! Mandy's oil would be divine!

    • Aftelier Perfumes I wrote down everyone's suggestions in my formula book. Thank you all for taking the time to be so creative and think about this. It does look like rose is the winner. I will have to think about what to do --- rose is very expensive and i like to keep my body oils very reasonably priced! I really appreciate each of you so much. Thank you!

    • Victoria Stuard I know this is a little late, but what about Cloves/Ylang Ylang/Black Pepper/ Geranium to approximate the Carnation fragrance since Carnation EO is extremely expensive as well... ? I think this would make an exotic body oil...

    • Cheri Howard This is a late one, too, but what about green tea and lime? Or citron and grapefruit?
