I'm joining this Bliss forum because my son, Oliver, was born 12 weeks early weighing 2lbs 13oz, totally unexpectedly (he was in such a hurry to get out that he was delivered breech within an hour of my arrival at hospital - no time for steroids!). In spite of a difficult start with pulmonary and brain haemorrhages (IVH grade III), and then hydrocephalus, he recovered well and we left hospital after 11 weeks and three different Units (Royal Surrey, Homerton and Exeter). He is now a happy, talkative 19 month old who has just started walking! He seems so far to have no lasting problems from his early birth. We are amazed by everything he does, and so grateful to the Neonatal staff who cared for him, and also to Bliss for the amazing work they do to support parents and raise awareness of prematurity.
