ride4acure - Hannah Rose Melanoma Research Fund ride4acure aims to raise awareness and funds to support vital melanoma research in young people, to increase quality of life, develop treatments and ultimately find a cure.

I am Maura Luxford, 47 years old, mother of three, teacher, counsellor and horsewoman. I have lived and worked in the Macleay Valley since 1992. On the 22nd December 2008 life as I knew it changed forever. My eldest daughter Hannah Rose died from the effects of malignant melanoma within a year of diagnosis. On 21st October 2009, I am getting on my bike and riding 1500kms to raise vital research money and awareness about malignant melanoma and its effect on adolescents and young adults. I am not a cycling athlete or sportswoman superstar. I’m a mum with ‘a fire in my belly’ who’s lost a precious daughter. I am motivated into action because this aggressive disease is destroying lives. I am endorsed by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to do this and have set up the Hannah Rose Melanoma Research Fund within PeterMac.The best medical minds are working tirelessly to treat and find solutions to this disease. Melanoma in young people is an area of science ‘crying’ out for research dollars ride4acure aims to support that need.We can do something about this together…today’s research – tomorrows cure. Please support ride4acure by going to www.ride4acure.com.au also check out our facebook group by simply typing ride4acure into the facebook search space (above right) and it will take you straight there! Let's work together to spread the word..many thanks Maura
