I know how bands way to, n who can charge so much, n who shouldn't charge that much, n the van Halen is gonna be over priced.

      ‎@James, I probably shouldn't have worded it that way. I just thought saying double the price means more money was so inaccuarate. The food industry has had a tough time finding good price points with the economy the way it's been. Our c...ompany has raised prices three times within the past year, and more are on the way. A couple of our top commodities are showing signs of increasing by 40% to 70% in quarters two and three this year. Even items like soft drinks are expected to rise by 3% to 6% because of the increased cost of sugar. How this relates is, consumers will only pay up to a certain point. The trick is to find the price point that allows you maximum profit while keeping the prices low enough to remain competitive. The bands that charge too much and yet still get the money are the ones people will pay just about anything to see. Groups like U2, and singers like Paul McCartney. I don't think Journey could raise their prices much more and still draw big crowds.See More

    • Ron Bailey Just found out something interesting. Revelation sold over 20,000 units in the Phillipines, but Eclipse has only sold around 2,000. That's a 90% drop off, which is the same as pretty much everywhere else. That really surprises me though.

    • Ron Bailey Also surprising, it appears Journey has cancelled it's Asian tour for 2012, or at least pushed it back to 2013. And in Europe they may only play a couple of festivals with no real tour in 2012. What happened to the solid 2 year Eclipse Tour?

      I believe Journey has been having an identity crisis, or more realistically very bad marketing strategy. If you add up all of the youtube hits for all of the posts for City Of Hope, the new single Journey has been pushing hard the past yea...r, it totals around 25,000. The Van Halen video I posted above for their new single Tattoo has already had nearly a quarter of a million hits! Doesn't matter if people like Tattoo or not, the interest in the band is there! Should be interesting! The album, which name is being kept a secret, hits the stores February 7th.See More

    • David Boyson ‎@Ron Bailey, Journey probably backed off the Eclipse playlist based on the low record sales. Their management pays attention to the numbers just like you. As for their planned tours over seas, I think the threat of a European recession or banking collapse has them scaling back. They may be returning to Latin America first and North America, where their concert numbers have been great, and their tours less of a strain.

      You could be right about that David, the economy world wide hasn't been good. Weird though, that so far for 2012, the only Journey show confirmed anywhere is one date in July. Shows usually have to be planned far in advance. Van Halen ha...s already listed a solid touring schedule through the month of June, with the rest to be listed later. I only find it odd because Journey had all along said they would take a short break after the first leg and then get back out in 2012. From the start they said it would be a 2 year tour.See More

    • Ron Bailey As far as backing off the Eclipse playlist, I still contend that they could have helped tie right back into it by playing Anything Is Possiible. It became a top 40 hit while they were on tour, but they didn't incorporate it into their set, thus failing to capitalize on it.

      ‎@Ron, I went back on Ytube and watched the video from the Dublin show last year. The Eclipse numbers were great. We can only speculate why they make certain decisions. But I think if they performed that album, it would be well received.... But, I also believe, most classic bands will back off new material if it is not selling well. Especially when your greatest hits album has sold 20 million or more. I wouldn't be surprised if your industry has dropped some of it's best new items, because they never took off in sales.       True, David. However, I can't understand sticking with City Of Hope for the entire tour when Anything Is Possible was a top 40 hit. City Of Hope was the other single released and it failed to chart. Seems they tried to push it. Ride your... current success as long as you can to me is a much better way to go. And maybe it would have generated some more interest in Eclipse, since Anything Is Possible had been proven to be well received both on the charts and in downloads.See More

    • Jenn Hill Jonathan Cain's wedding March was so beautiful at my outside cemetery wedding in June, 2011. I found it so different than any other and I have been a big Journey fan all of my life. I got so many compliments about the song in which I walked over a bridge to, and so many questions on where to find this song. An absolute Masterpiece.
