PlainTales

PlainTales Our Hans Christian Andersen CD was reviewed in Booklist. Here's an excerpt: "Gilbert reads four timeless Andersen stories: “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” “The Princess and the Pea,” and “The Nightingale.” The unabridged classic tales are well served by oral presentation. Gilbert raises and lowers tones to denote characters in her well-paced, finely modulated reading. Tavia Gilbert

Penny Smith Eifrig

Penny Smith Eifrig I think it is great that your daughter is assistant editor. As a small publisher myself, I have found that my 6- and 9-year-olds have an eye for detail that goes beyond that which I have retained into adulthood. I think I'll make Saede, my 9-year-old, assistant editor too.

Ana Nicole Perales

Ana Nicole Perales I think that its great that we have now available the classic stories from when we grew up. It teaches our kids morals and values that newer stories just don't have.

PlainTales
One of the reasons I founded PlainTales was because I believe so strongly in the power of stories. It may seem like a strange transition to go from a 20+ year career in software and technology to starting a company that publishes classic children’s stories on audio CD. ...
Sue Shelley

Sue Shelley We really enjoyed listening to the Gingerbread Boy and other tales, it totally kept the kids enthralled (even us adults!) it's nice to have the classics for the kids to listen to, especially on long car trips!!!

PlainTales
PlainTales recently released an unabridged collection of Hans Christian Andersen stories. There are couple of things that are unique about our version: 1. The stories we selected can be enjoyed by kids as young as 4 years old. Many of his most famous stories have very adult themes and language...

We love classic stories. Kids living in today's modern world are bombarded with new-fangled stories that are purely for entertainment purposes. We forget to give them the "good ole stores" that actually helped them to learn morals and values. It's like we believe the classic stories of yesteryear are lame, or invalu...able for us living today. We also love audio stories because it helps to train our auditory listening skills. Again, our modern society gives people lots of visual stimuli with the TV. We lose our ability to listen, and to really hear the things around us. Listeners make better thinkers. Let's give our kids what they need to grow into productive citizens, instead of stunting their growth because they don't have what they need to flourish.Read More

It is refreshing to bring the classic stories to life for my kids. They are innundated with commercialized characters everywhere we go, and an oral telling of the classics allows them to use their immagination without commercial applications. It is fun introducing them to Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed and others. It... invokes conversation and teaches them an important part of the roots of our country. Thanks for a good product.Read More

Jason Bailey

Jason Bailey I like classic children's stories because we live in a world dominated by Disney. I want my stories to come from the source, not a commercialized re-hash. I also like re-reading the stories I grew up with so I may continue reading them to my son. Thank you PlainTales for keeping the story genres alive.
