I used to think Goodfellas had the best cheesy beefs but Portillos beats them by a longshot, the bread is great and so are the onion rings.

I thought the food was good but it cost $20 for two combo meals. I didn't mind paying that but when I asked for a refil on my drink I was told I was going to have to pay full price. What a scam. I was very upset and despite the good food, I won't be going back.

For all the people who miss Portillos so much go to thier web site & they will be glad to send complete packages of beef or hotdogs with all the trimmings. Just sent some to my son in Alabama. it arrived by UPS in perfect condition.

Best Italian beef and hot dogs around. Especially love the fries.

Love the food! But if i had any criticism it would be to offer free refills on pop. You guys put so much ice in your drinks that the pop is gone before you know it. Why no free refills??

It's not on the menu, but you have to try a tamale in a bowl of chile, with extra onions and tomatoes! I used to work there when I was saving for a house. It's the best kept secret. I dont know why they dont post it on their menu!
