Positive Tomorrows

Positive Tomorrows What a year this has been! We've made some new friends and re-connected with old friends and we absolutely appreciate our friends who have been here through thick and thin. Our school year has been fantastic so far. We've enrolled children who have need a little extra care and have given them a place to come to each...... day where they learn and play and grow. Seeing the light in their eyes is what inspires us to be here each day. If you feel inspired by Positive Tomorrows, take this moment to make a year end gift. You can make it right here through facebook or check out our website: www.positivetomorrows.org. Happy New Year!

Positive Tomorrows has a parking lot full of snow! If anyone has a snowplow and can help us, call Susan at 409-7993. We'd like to be able to get the bus out to take children to the Boys and Girls Club on Monday.

Positive Tomorrows Kevin Durant hosted a Giving Tree for our students and children served by Sunbeam. These are some of our children showing off their gifts. It was wonderful to see the floods of people out to support KD's community project. It was nice to meet Kevin's mother too. Boy did she do something right!

Positive Tomorrows The kindergarten boys were certain the sparkles in my inexpensive necklace were diamonds. When I said they were probably rhinestones, the boys protested and gave me a lesson in geology. "No, stones are like rocks," they said. "These aren't stones, they sparkle, so they're diamonds." Well, I'm not a geologist, but I... know what some diamonds look like and these little boys are the real deal.

Positive Tomorrows How do you teach Thanksgiving to children who have nothing?

www.positivetomorrows.org
When you ask a child who has nothing what he’s thankful for, oftentimes you get a blank stare. Many of them are totally unfamiliar with the concept of big family dinners, full of love and plenty of turkey and pumpkin pie.

I've never been confronted with someone who has absolutely nothing to be thankful for. Do you find that everyone has at least an occasional moment that makes them feel good; a moment that can and will be repeated occasionally? That would be a thing to be thankful for. I am having a lot of thoughts about this but never having had the experience I can't really feel the frustration of working with someone who had absolutely no hope. Do they know about Jesus?

Positive Tomorrows It was a day of dramatics at Positive Tomorrows. Summit Middle School Drama Club came to perform for the Kindergarten class. They had puppet shows and skits all surrounding the Thanksgiving season. Afterwards, they played games with the children. Thank you Summit Middle School!!

Positive Tomorrows This morning, Dental Depot came to teach our students about good dental hygiene. He was funny and energetic and the students learned that brushing, flossing and rinsing with water will make their smiles brighter. We believe in teaching more than just reading and math. We want them to smile brighter and brighter each day.

Positive Tomorrows misses a kindergarten student who moved suddenly to Tulsa with his father. The little guy didn't know yesterday when he left that it was his last day at our school. Keep our little ones in your prayers.

Positive Tomorrows It's Halloween and our students have geared up by painting pumpkins this week. Here is just a snap shot of a few. What great imagination and talent. They are dressing up at this very moment for trick or treating at American Red Cross and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. The witches and vampires and princesses ...and superheroes will be out on the town. Check back here for more pictures.
