Bruno Girveau reveals that castles dominated the imaginary of Walt Disney's films, becoming the center of Disney parks and, with Mickey, figuring the emblem of the Disney co. Someone like Walt could see the immensity of the small and the accessibility of the great: Tiny Mickey's heroic dimension; parks' castles toy-likeness. Disney fantasy has the generosity of saints in loving everything alike, giving to great and small common attributes. (Disneyssence)

Walt Disney was said to be "mercurial".
How can someone have integrity, be in synch with life, if life, for the creative person, is always a source of surprise, that is, is "mercurial" itself?
Mercury is the Roman name for the Greek god Hermes, the messenger of the gods. He had to be everywhere, as fast as he could, to carry the Olympian designs. That is the way Disney acted too, bringing to fruition heavenly designs.

When the Walt Disney Family Museum opened in San Francisco's Presidio this fall, one of the nicest surprises was the 114-seat screening room. In addition to showing classic Disney films there, museum organizers announced plans for unique film projects.

The museum is about his family not the company that's just one of the reasons it's in SF.

John, once you see this historic building with its ultra-modern high tech features and a jaw-dropping view of the S.F. Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, you might just come to appreciate the site.

Why shouldn't it be located close to the headquarters of Diane Disney Miller, Ron Miller and the area Lillian settled after Walt died?

The family who ... See Morefinanced the project wants the museum close to them to keep tabs on things ... and yes, the Millers are frequently there, especially for special events like Marty Sklar's recent talk on Herb Ryman.

My husband I flew up to San Francisco (from Santa Barbara) and visited your museum today (on our way to honor our Veteran's at the Presido National Cemetary) and we were amazed at the beauty and storytelling weaved into every exhibit we viewed in the museum. The staff in the museum store were beyond polite... Thank you for making the"magic of the value of family" resonate throughout our experience at your museum.

Everyone should get to the museum. I went last weekend to see a showing of some of the "scary" shorts and it was amazing! Haven't been in the museum yet, need to wait until I have the money after going to Disneyland in December.

The Walt Disney Family Museum Walt & El Grupo--a documentary about Walt Disney's Good Neighbor tour around South America--will be playing for a limited time at the Metreon in San Francisco, starting Friday, October 30! Go to the Events section of their Facebook page for more information: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Walt-El-Grupo/38603334983

The year was 1941, and the world was on the brink of war. In an effort to improve relations between the Americas, the Roosevelt administration called upon one of Hollywood’s most influential filmmakers to embark on a special goodwill tour. WALT & EL GRUPO chronicles the... amazing ten-week trip that Walt Disney and his hand-picked group of artists and filmmaking talent (later known as “El Grupo”) took to South America at the behest of the U.S. Government as part of the Good Neighbor Policy. WALT & EL GRUPO brings together an intertwined story of art and politics, the poignancy of a bygone age, and a legendary artist during one of his most trying times.
