FITNESS Magazine Some of us at FITNESS sit on exercise balls instead of desk chairs. It’s great for improving balance and core strength. It turns out, kids are doing the same thing to help them concentrate in class. Bonus!

I have to say that I have been cold free (knock on wood) since I started working out 4-5 days a week. I have also been hand washing more frequently especially because I work with students. I also make sure that I get tons of rest if I feel something coming on.

As marathon fields continue to grow, so has the intensity of the debate over how quickly a runner should finish the once-elite event that is now an activity for the masses.

Just remember that the whole world's your playground! You can get a fantastic full-body workout in the park, you just have to look for the opportunities. Or, you can go another route and make your community more of a playground. Get involved with community cleanup. You will get a bit of a workout cleaning up and the effort put into neighborhood renovations will make you want to get out and play more. Inspire yourself (and others) to have fun while trudging through your day!

FITNESS Magazine MOTIVATION MONDAY! I was proud to "run like a girl" yesterday in the Nike Women's Half Marathon (http://bit.ly/3lXKRA) in San Francisco. Seeing all the moms, daughters, sisters and friends out there made me wonder—Why go at it solo when you can support each other through the miles? Who is your favorite running/walking ...buddy? Call her up for a running catch-up session today!
