I don't think the children fully understand the magnitude of the greatness that is in thier presence. If you look at the blowup of that pic, it looks like one kid is maybe paying attention to what Wayne is doing. I'm so jealous of those kids!

Wayne Gretzky played for Canada during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and then managed the men's hockey team for each of the next two Olympics - Salt Lake City in 2002 and Turin in 2006. He has a different role in mind for Vancouver 2010 - spectator.

TSN's Dave Hodge sounds off on all the hockey issues of the day in Hodgemail. Write in to answer Dave's weekly question and watch the NHL on TSN later tonight to see if he reads your response. Here's Dave's question to you: "In what capacity should Wayne Gretzky return to the NHL?"

I was there the year Wayne was inducted. There was a huge display of everything Wayne...... I don't think Wayne would miss the opportunity to be there with former teammates.

Gary Bettman should be ashamed of himself for how he has treated Gretzky the past few years. Once again Wayne shows why he is the truly the Great One. He's a class act and Bettman is well .....just an ass.

My mom loves you Mr. Gretzky. We met your dad at Gretzkys in Toronto when I was a baby. I think she might like your dad even more than she likes you -haha. Oh well - he was really nice and she has never met you.

At the end of the day, Gretz understood that it's the HOCKEY Hall of Fame and not NHL Hall of Fame and this week's events are bigger than both him and the league. The HHOF induction, like the Stanley Cup ceremonies, is one of the few instances in hockey where it's not about the business or money or greed but about and only about the game.

Gretz ... See Morehas always had tremendous respect for the game, and wisely showed up to celebrate the careers of what are now some of the most beloved and respected names in hockey history.

His class and reputation is worth a lot more than $8 million.

One would think donning the No. 99 jersey in these parts might fall under the category of treading on hallowed ground? Maybe, if the sport was hockey.

with all due respect to bobby orr who was agreat player and a great person.wayne is the greatest player the game has ever seen or ever will.wayne dominated hockey like no one before or since.if wayne never scored a single goal,he would still be the nhls all-time leading scorer on assitts alone.thats unequaled domination in the history of team sports!!!

as a rangers fan and hockey fan, my respect for moose is right up there with 99. loved their reunion in '97 and wished they had played together longer in NY.

6 stanley cups, only player to captain 2 franchises to cup wins, only player besides wayne to win an MVP with 2 different teams, an icon for both the oilers and rangers with jerseys retired by both teams, 2nd most points of all-time, an all-star as a left wing and center and a reputation as the greatest captain in history.
