How the discussions within the group sound exactly like those of religious fundamentalists,...with a change in vocabulary to be sure, but all the same degrading, lack of respect, lack of integrity, blame and name calling that comes from such groups. For the second part of your argument. You are right, however people are reactionary. The capacity to be an extremist is in all of us. Most atheists are extremists. They are fixated and hate religion. This is the trauma response of being raised religious and coming to contrary knowledge. Just like female abuse victims become radical feminists. We think the world revolves around our nemesis.
