Now, using the coercive power of government, private citizens will be forced to pay their money directly to government supported health insurers whether they wish to or not. The veneer that this is "public money" being spent for the "public good" has been completely stripped away.

All the bickering between the anti war movement, the liberty movement, the truth movement, and the end the fed movement is killing all four movements, and at the same time gives the elite scum of the world time to regroup and counter attack. We have succeeded at spreading the word, making more aware, and killing the corporate Press, but we have to BAND TOGETHER if we want to beat the corporatocracy, aka the Elites.

Congress recognizes no limits on its power. It doesn't care about the Constitution, it doesn't care about your inalienable rights. If this health care bill becomes law, America, life as you have known it, freedom as you have exercised it and privacy as you have enjoyed it will cease to be.

It's not a sham. It's part of the gov't to keep us safe. These are people that want to kill us just because we are Americans & Christians. It has already been proven whe Obama set some prisoners free after just a few days in office that those terrorist prisioners were already back in a terrorist camp with in hours of being released. They will come after us or someone else again. I am a mother who protects her family. That camp is where the US protects Americans. One less safety net now. Thanks.

Rick..If by "members only" you mean people who believe in the U.S. Constitution...Then the reason for you "staying away" must mean that you don't support nor believe in it.

@Bob and Rick - I agree... usually I'm not the one jumping down people's throats like that. So, I apologize, Jennifer, but I still disagree with you. I spoke too quickly because I've been particularly irritated today at the health bill stuff. Not to change the subject, but I'm upset with the support for this bill and I'm disgusted that so many people at the rally in Washington today embraced hateful language and imagery when they should have focused on the message of liberty.

no Bill, by "members only" I mean people who say you have to agree with us 100%, or else "stay away". Some people need to be educated about reasons why certain things are not constitutional, and other things are. By telling people who are ASKING QUESTIONS, and SHOWING AN INTEREST, to go F-off (pardon my french), then you are only hurting your, excuse me, the cause.

Regardless of what political ideology one embraced prior to finding C4L, new members are encouraged to read the platform, as I suggested. They might find things in direct contrast with their views. But I'll point out that not everyone is willing to fully appreciate the message of liberty.

Wow Sean, again, it's C4L members with attitudes like yours which is why to this point, I've contributed as much as buying a REALLY cool t-shirt. The movement will get nowhere with that patronizing attitude. It seems to me to be pretty prevalent throughout the libertarian movement as well. Shame, because I more closely relate to their ideals than any other organized group.

OK, so what I said was incredibly condescending. Of course there's room for debate in any movement. And rather than trying to "silence all opposition" by pointing people to the C4L platform and saying "take it or leave it", I'll try my best not to act like I know it all. Obviously, I don't.

But we must agree that the things we support are INLINE with the Constitution.

So... now I'd like to address Jennifer's comment. First, I reject the notion that this country is justified in violating the natural rights of human beings, even if they are suspected of terrorism. I agree with the author's conclusion that American civil courts are quite capable of trying suspected terrorists if there is truly a sound case ... See Moreagainst them. Surely crimes against this country and its citizens should not go unpunished, and justice should be served, but none of that justifies torture or suspension of the writ of habeas corpus. Second, I disagree that people intend to harm Americans because we enjoy some freedoms they might not have. I believe some of our country's policies and actions attract negative attention and draw some people to incite violence against us. Unfortunately, our foreign policy doesn't always jive with the ideals of peace, free trade, non-aggression, and non-interventionism that our Founding Fathers advocated.

I'd only clarify to say that I've met muslims a-plenty who have 0 interest in living in or supporting any kind of theocracy, but like with many truly religious people, true social tolerance, and outright libertarianism, can be a stretch. Anger drove thousands of citizens, including Campaign for Liberty supporters, to show up on Capitol Hill November 5. Their fury stems from a 1,990 page "comprehensive health reform" bill that strips away patient rights and plunges taxpayers into another federal financial fiasco.

@ Don: not much longer. The interest alone is close to swallowing up the entire budget. The second show to drop here shortly will be the collapse of the commercial real estate industry. The whole interstate insurance debate is a scam. Government blocks free trade and then acts like there is something wrong, and then has to come to our aid instead of simply allowing us to buy insurance across state lines! What a joke.

I wrote AARp the following letter:
Addison Barry Rand, CEO

AARP
601 E. Street, NW

Washington, DC 20049

Dear Mr. Rand,

As members of AARP for 17 years, we vehemently oppose the organization’s support of the administration’s health care legislation. We do not support any part of a government-run healthcare system. CANCEL OUR MEMBERSHIP EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!

We:

Oppose the $400 billion cut in Medicare.
Oppose ending the Medicare Advantage program that helps offer low cost supplemental coverage to the elderly for hearing aids, eyeglasses, and a variety of benefits not covered by Medicare. Now the only way to supplement Medicare will be Medigap coverage, largely offered by the AARP that is both more expensive and less comprehensive.
Oppose the fine of $1,000 on the uninsured will not induce them to get coverage. To be covered, they would have to pay between 8 and 12 percent of their income before they get any subsidy. How would a $1,000 fine induce them to pay that much to get coverage?
Oppose the rise of insurance premiums by $1,700 per family per year.
Oppose a bill that provides for a 40% tax on health insurance premiums.
Oppose taxes on Medical devices like pacemakers, heart valves, artificial limbs, replacement hips and knees.
Oppose Taxes on those who have to pay 7 1/2 percent of their income in medical costs that will no longer be deductible.
Oppose the legislation that will limit deduction of our premiums only if payments reach 10% of their income. THIS IS A TAX ON SICK PEOPLE!

Under “Managed Care”, our choices will be limited much like a HMO.

Does the AARP support government paid abortions or minority preferences to doctors and health care providers? This is a provision!

In conclusion, we do not support any thing that our government would be involved in because it will cost more, provide a more complex system and would control my rights given me by our constitution.

Sincerely

Richard H. & Katherine E. Olson
