I dumped cable TV and used a home made outside antenna to get HDTV free. I use my 46" LCD TV as my monitor connected to a Mac Mini and will never catch up on all of the online movies and docs available. I wouldn't go back to cable TV if it were free simply because of the amount and obnoxiousness of their commercials. What I save on not having ... See Morecable TV pays for cable Internet. I use Magic Jack for my phone service too. I don't feel anymore sorry for the TV industry than I did when the 8 track tape industry or outdoor movie industries died.
