Activist and "Nickel and Dimed" author Barbara Ehrenreich criticizes the "delusional" positivity that has permeated American culture in this FORA.tv segment. She suggests that so-called "negative" realists are persecuted for their attitudes, particularly in business.

Well she most certainly made a valid point on the breast cancer "movement". It's not a blessing or a gift. Believe me people can be realists & still enjoy life. When I was a kid (I'm 57) they pulled the everyone can be President crap on me. Okay a) I'm a girl & you won't even let me play sports and b) every POTUS has been RICH or had wealthy ... See Morebackers.
I agree 100% with Mr. Hanson. Economics is not or should not be a pep rally. We need to face up to what unbridled greed and that good old 'can do' spirit has done to us....and the rest of the world. I'm not saying don't earn a profit. I'm just saying you need to wake up Goldman Sachs et. al. It's not working.

Denial is a huge problem, but Ehrenreich's view seems unrealistically skewed. It seems to me that it's most common for people to deny reality through negativity. Has she observed what has happened because of negative fabrications in politics alone? Has she noticed say the history of genocide - built on negative fabrications about other people? ... See MoreDoes she need for some reason to be in denial about the blindness of negativity?

I think the bottom line is that we need to be curious, realistic, AND nurturing of positive possibilities. Without all three, we can't learn from mistakes, and we can't create better solutions to our problems.

(Mosaic Intelligence Report: October 29, 2009) Election run-off is few days away in Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai's brother is on the CIA's payroll. Should Obama send more troops to Afghanistan? And can the Taliban be defeated?

American command had a complex network of spies in Afghanistan in the year 2000, but failed to use them. Today, American's fund their military opponents in a futile attempt to maintain the overweight economy, and American law enforcement attacks an innocent citizen for no more than carrying a Koran, but the FBI nor sheriffs would not investigate when that same citizen, myself, could have prevented terrorist attacks.
