Promo News has been established by David Knight, former editor of Promo magazine. From 1992 until it ceased publication in mid-2007, Promo was the bible of the British music video industry and the most authoritative publication anywhere on its subject, covering thousan...ds of videos and interviewing hundreds of directors – music video directing greats and up-and-comers alike – about their work. Knight has also been a guiding hand behind the CADS, the big awards show for British music videos, since it began in 1996. Since earlier this year he has been co-curator/producer of BUG, a bi-monthly event of showcasing exceptional music video creativity at the BFI Southbank, and also Airplay UK, a programme of British music videos screened worldwide by the British Council. He has written about videos, ads, film and music for various publications, including Music Week, Dazed & Confused, Bizarre and Campaign, and is currently writing on music videos for Shots.
