Open Clasp Theatre Co were at the Women in Focus event in Newcastle last week. Women in Focus is about meeting the needs of women offenders. Open Clasp's Catrina McHugh and Cheryl Dixon presented a scene from Rattle & Roll to an audience of professionals, including the Solicitor General Vera Baird. This was a fantastic way to get the voices... of the women who took part in our drama workshops heard by the professionals who can change policy and practice.

Women In Focus is an action by the Government Equalities Office in response to the COrston Review of Women with Particular Vulnerabilities in the Criminal Justice System. You can find out more about it at http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/corston-report/

The informati...on that they collect from this survey will be used to draw attention to women’s ideas about rape, what we want, whether we can find what we need after rape and what is happening in the law, from women’s perspectives.

Thanks Sabrina, You're so right, so many women suffer in silence and never talk about what they've gone through. If a lot of women complete the survey it will be really helpful. It allows women who may never have told anyone what happened to them to contribute confidentially, and the Campaign to End Rape will then use the information to campaign ... See Morefor change. The more women share their experiences the more other women will realise they're not alone.

Through our drama workshops Open Clasp help provide a safe way for women to share their experiences, and by collecting real women's experiences confidentially this survey does the same.
