I know one of the owner of this ship breaking industry. To be more specific it is PHP (Peace Happiness & Prosperity). Hapiness and prosperity for the workers...NO! it is for them. They own expensive european cars, have couple of appartments overseas. Really corrupted system. But the company say the workers need food to survive which means they need to work.

National Labor Committee Bangladeshi shipbreakers face death, disfigurement, and paralysis on a daily basis as they dismantle the worldwide shipfleet on the coast of Bangladesh. Earning starvation wages, these young workers (many of them children) can only dream of earning 60 cents an hour. In 30 years' time, international organizations such... as the G-20 and the ILO have done nothing to improve these workers' plight.
