Fairs over :(

fairs over and that sucks! we were there yesterday and had a blast!!!!

That means schools about to start for all you little ones! as my mom would say School tomorrow, school tomorrow. She couldn't wait for summer vacation to be over. We drove her nuts! LOL

In honor of the last day of the fair, my husband made dinner on a stick - beef kabobs- yum!!

The Police working the gates this year were really rude , I think the Fair Board needs to revaluate the hiring of police personell , heck they can hire anyone to yell at you as you drive by.
If I treated people the way they treated me I would not see many people visiting.

I completely agree with Mr. Wetzel

I was disappointed that many people had packed up or were packing up when I arrived at 7 p.m. I also was bothered by people acting miffed that I wanted to look or buy until 9 p.m. The exception was the Walnut Center where the people always stay put and welcoming until 9 p.m. Maybe its cause they are crafters I don't know. But the Shoppers Mart was really disappointing at 7:30 p.m. I would call Extreme Sunday vacant Sunday where they were concerned.

At 11:00, kids, baby and all, we were told by troopers to get out...midway was closing!!!! Not only was it very rude, IT WAS ONLY 11:00!!!! The little kids were very intimidated and thought we had done something very wrong!

yeah it wasn't just shoppers mart lots of venders near indian village and directly near riley stage as well as varried industry building had stopped serving and started packing up. i had been there all day but wanted any last fair food before leaving and found it hard to get by like 8PM most of the things i wanted were either out, not cooking/making any more, or were closed uo/packing up

They did that last year too, I wanted something before they quit for the night and they stopped cookin before the fair ended. They need to wait till the fair ends and then pick up stuff they are losing money doin it the other way.

That is the way it always is on the last day of the Fair---everyone wants to get out of there. That is why I never go on the last day.

I am so sad that it's over. It feels like it just stated.

The weather was great! Too bad Journey wasn't. Memo to Neal Schon: We already know you're a good rock guitar player. Stop with the excruciatingly tedious solos. I think I literally knodded off during a couple of them.

Totally agree Tom. Almost left half way through. Won't pay to see them again. Heart rocked!

Does anybody know of some video of the demolition derby? I would really like to see it. Any imput would be appretiated! Thanks

We really enjoyed the Sioux City Rockestra. Please have them back next year.

Haven't been to the Ia State Fair in many years but the smells and sounds of the Fair are fond memories....the taste of carmel apples, hot dogs and Dutch letters, the rides and games on the midway.

Did you see that bull! Wow! Loved my Cup O Cookies, all the free samples and my egg on a stick and was even able to dodge the rain on Saturday. Had a GREAT time.

I am looking forward to Camping at the Iowa State Fair!! You just gotta luv it!! The sounds, the smells!! Whenever I smell fried potatoes & onions or even bacon cooking, I think of the fair Campgrounds. Our own little city for 17 days out of the year!! My whole family is there to share the time with! When we start to prepare supper it seems I have nieces & nephews who come out of the woodwork wondering, "What's for supper?" They can't do that the other 348 days of the year!! LOL!!

I've been camping for sooo long, we start getting ready at least a month before...

I just ordered "Fun Packs" online for the whole family today - how many days until the fair?
