actually Candice I watched another pbs doc. called ten trillion and in it, it mentions that the budget deficit will double - to at least $219 trillion, but guess what our number one issue to begin controlling the issue is - HEALTHCARE and the soaring costs of medicare medicaid and social security...just think in 30 years not only we will have no ... See Moremoney left in the budget because of these entitlement costs, there will be no more programs for healthcare and our debt thru the roof and no one will lend to us as we are proof of irresponsibility. So we have to end the wars in afghanistan, and we have to re-invest in healthcare and control the run away money in those programs and that costs money!!!...so either spend more money now for investments such as these, so we have have a shot of a future healthcare system in 30 years and lenders who would be willing to invest in us or do what? what would your option be candice?

I want to know where in the movie it talks about How Obamas Spending on Stimulus, Health Care and Afghanistan is costing us more than the Bush Administration combined.....if you are going to put out a movie about debt, you had better accurately portray spending which is also a huge stain on the current administration.

Wow, does this thread miss the point. Both parties have for quite some time been happily facilitating a massive appropriation of future wealth to fund widespread over-consumption in the present. If you feel that that movie comes down harder on Republicans, as I did, then watch the "update" on the DVD.

I have never seen such swift ... See Morespending and not on jobs....but on expanding welfare benefits, food stamps, etc. This healthcare plan is a nightmare of socialized medicine....the costs per family is huge. For us its going to cost us 7K more per year than we are currently spending.

The movie came out before Obama. The DVD has an "update" segment that addresses these points specifically. That said, there's ample blame to go around. In my opinion most of it goes to the American people who have been electing leaders from both parties who will not face up to the $50+ trillion that our government has promised its citizens over ... See Morethe next few decades. Neither party has shown any real willingness to face entitlement reform, compared to which everything else is basically nitpicking.
